Abstract | The aim of the study is to analyse lexical and lexical-stylistic mistakes in Ukrainian among Polish-speaking students of the Jagiellonian University who are learning Ukrainian as a foreign language. The lexical mistakes observed in both spoken and written Ukrainian can be divided into the following groups: 1) mistakes occuring only in the speech of Polish-speaking students (interlingual homonyms and their incorrect (invented) equivalents due to the influence of the mother tongue); 2) mistakes that can be noticed not only in the speech of foreigners, but mainly in the speech of Ukrainian native speakers. These mistakes are most often caused by linguistic interference. This refers to the difficulty in choosing the right word from a number of synonyms. This group of mistakes can also include examples of pleonasms and paronyms, and, less frequently, tautologies |
