Summary: | The Enhanced Green Build-out Model is a planning that quantifies the cumulative stormwater benefits of various green infrastructure intensively applied across the District of The Enhanced Green Build-out Model calculates reductions in stormwater runoff within the separate storm sewer system (MS4) and the sewer system (CSS) that contribute to water impairment in the Nation's capital. The green component of the Enhanced Green Build-out Model added to an existing hydrologic and hydraulic of the District called Mike Urban. Mike Urban was and applied by the DC Water and Sewer Authority to support development of the Long Term Control for the CSS. The MS4 areas were added to the so that all of the municipal sewer systems were in one planning tool. In its original the Green Build-out Model was designed to tree canopy expansion and green roof conversion progression (Casey Trees and LimnoTech, 2007). Enhanced Green Build-out Model includes the green and tree coverage from the original model and upon them by quantifying wet weather flow for a new set of practices including rain roof leader disconnection to rain gardens, bioretention planters, curb bump-out bioretention and permeable pavement. Green infrastructure was into the model by utilizing detailed GIS and mimicking the hydrologic processes inherent each green infrastructure practice. The model was with average annual rainfall conditions. in runoff volume and CSO discharge volume and were calculated for both the CSS and MS4 areas for the Anacostia, Potomac, and Rock Creek within the District. |
