Summary: | In moving towards a water balance approach to management and the modelling tools that can such an approach, it is clear that there are gaps in our knowledge of groundwater recharge and (ET) in urban areas. At a microscale, weighing can be used to estimate ET and may also be to also allow drainage (groundwater recharge) to quantified. A weighing lysimeter has been constructed and tested and will be used to ET and groundwater recharge from a bioretention Results at this scale will vary with urban but will nevertheless contribute to the scant available. Installation of similar systems in urban micro-meteorological conditions will help build a database of urban ET and recharge. Other such as the eddy correlation approach for ET, are needed to complement microscale measurements. |
