Summary: | To meet the challenge of escalating prices of conventional polyols, i.e., glycerol and pentaerythritol, considerable amounts of sorbitol have been used in alkyd synthesis. Characterization of the alkyd resins by instrumental techniques and performance evaluation of the paints prepared from alkyd resins were made. The results revealed that the synthetic resins prepared with sorbitol are equal to those prepared exclusively with conventional polyols. |
