Description
Summary:Calcium are related to several function in nervous system. Dysfunction of calcium metabolism has been suggested as a pathogenetic participation of the degenerative process. On the other hand, Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been considered a primary neurodegenerative disorder caused by amyloid deposition, although recent epidemiological studies have suggested the partial involvement of cardiovascular risk factors in AD development. Higher self-reported dietary intakes of calcium reduced the risk of all-cause dementia and vascular dementia but not of AD in the general Japanese population, the Hisayama study. A diet rich in calcium and so on may be recommended to lessen the future risk of dementia.
