Photochemistry of fluorochloroamines in low-temperature argon matrices

Broad-band and single-wavelength photolysis studies of NFCl{sub 2} and NF{sub 2}Cl in low-temperature argon matrices have been carried out and the photolysis products identified via the IR spectra of the matrices. Description
Summary:Broad-band and single-wavelength photolysis studies of NFCl{sub 2} and NF{sub 2}Cl in low-temperature argon matrices have been carried out and the photolysis products identified via the IR spectra of the matrices. Broad-band photolysis and photolysis at 250, 270, and 300 nm of the NFCl{sub 2} matrix produced NF, as identified by the appearance of a peak at 1,113 cm{sup {minus}1} in the IR spectrum. Photolysis of the NFCl{sub 2}/Ar matrix at 210 and at 330 nm and of the NF{sub 2}Cl/Ar matrix at 210, 245, and 330 nm produced no changes in the IR spectrum. Mechanisms are presented to explain these results.
