Description
Summary:This study examines the determinants of fertility among married women in Bangladesh and their consequences for social development. It applies a multiple regression analysis including the tests for interaction on Bangladesh Fertility Survey data, 1975-76; which is a part of the World Fertility Survey. The findings suggest that infant/child deaths, age, religion, husband's education and the practice of family planning have positive and the wife's education and her employment in the modern sector have inverse effect on maritial fertility. The findings should have a bearing on government family planning and social development programs.
