Abstract The paper describes the various features enhancing the feature of power efficiency in the wireless sensor node for monitoring the industrial processes. The sensor node is deployed to monitor the process parameters in a remote location. The industrial processes are unique in their requirement of highly reliable operation in harsh environments. The robust, high efficient and reliable sensor node is to be deployed for these industrial processes. The proposed system is a battery operated module consisting of four main stages. The first stage is to collect the process parameter and convert to acceptable range of the microcontroller. The Ultra low power efficient microcontroller MSP430FG4618 is used in the computation module forms the second stage. The performance of the sensor node is analyzed with development board. The third stage is the communication module, which is realized through the zigbee protocol stack to enable the wireless transmission. The Low power and high efficient CC2520 EMK Zigbee module acts as a communication module. Finally, the data collected from the process is to be monitored at the remote location.
