Near-Field Amplitude Measurement of Passive Intermodulation in Antennas
Near-field measurement method of passive intermodulation (PIM) in antennas is introduced. Scanning with a near-field probe inside an antenna structure is proposed to be used to localise passive intermodulation sources and, thus, to speed up e.g. antenna design. For the amplitude measurement a mechan...

Summary: | Near-field measurement method of passive intermodulation (PIM) in antennas is introduced. Scanning with a near-field probe inside an antenna structure is proposed to be used to localise passive intermodulation sources and, thus, to speed up e.g. antenna design. For the amplitude measurement a mechanical scanner and a low-PIM probe are needed in addition to a PIM analyser. Two demonstration measurements with a matched microstrip line and stacked patch antenna incorporating a diode were made at 910 MHz. The diode caused a 21 dB peak in the microstrip line and a 16 dB peak in the antenna measurement. |
