Description
Summary:Similarly to optical telecommunication, optical fibers interconnect today computer systems performing very fast communication between servers and supercomputers or between racks in modern data centers. In the near future optical links will move into the chip multiprocessors connecting tens or even hundreds of processing elements and forming a photonic network for communication between them. For these applications novel, highly integrated and CMOS compatible devices need to be developed. In this talk we will present some of our recent silicon-based CMOS-compatible optical components for application in computer chip-to-chip and on-chip communication.
