Summary: | This paper presents and validate up the Speed Calculations software for Traffic Accidents (SCTA). This application is designed for forensic and follows a protocol that allows the coroner, even those without training in physics, estimate vehicle speeds involved in collisions and run over in traffic. The SCTA uses basic concepts of classical mechanics, considers different friction coefficients and takes into account the damage and the characteristics of the vehicles involved. This allows you to determine the speeds in the most different accident situations. The software follows an Open source philosophy, allowing implement new situations and works as an intelligent system in computer forensics area that automates the speed calculation process. Finally, as input data, SCTA depends only on few measurements performed upon survey expert. This avoids unnecessary observations, optimizes and ensures reliability of forensic expertise. |
