Description
Summary:We propose and experimentally demonstrate optical sensor based on all-fiber Mach-Zehnder interferometer possible use for Weight in Motion (WiM) systems. WiM is a dynamic vehicle weighing system for continuous traffic for protection of road infrastructure. The sensor is based on low-coherence interferometry of two modes. Applying the force (load) on fiber in test arm (its optical path is shorter than optical path of fiber placed in reference arm) of interferometer changes visibility of interference pattern. The design of deforming environment is also investigated. In addition, the sensor can be designed to be temperature independent.
