Description
Summary:The author points out that a recognition of the power of the integrated circuit, combined with the transferability and portability of the technology itself, means the global market for semiconductors is dramatically changing, and so is the business of manufacturing them. He indicates that we have entered a new risk environment-a period when the risks will be nearly as great as the opportunities. He addresses the question of what can be done to survive in this new environment. He believes the answer will come from a new understanding of mutual interest and partnership. He indicates that there is a new imperative to partner more effectively. If this mandate is ignored, both chip makers and their suppliers will be the weaker-and the poorer-for it.< >
