Summary: | Single carrier block transmission (SCBT) with overlap frequency-domain equalization (OFDE) can improve the spectral efficiency because the insertion of a guard interval (GI) is not required. With OFDE, the transmission performance and computational complexity depend on the number of extracted symbols following FDE. Therefore, this parameter should be determined adaptively, based on time-and-frequency-selective fading channels. Recently, an adaptive OFDE (AOFDE) based on a signal-to-interference power ratio (SIR) function that takes into account inter-block interference (IBI) was proposed. The conventional scheme can determine the adequate length for signal extraction in the case of frequency-selective fading channels. However, since the conventional scheme does not consider the time-selectivity of the channels, the transmission performance degrades. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an AOFDE which uses the SIR function to take into account both the time and frequency selectivity fading of the channels (TFS-AOFDE). By computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed scheme can provide better transmission performance than the conventional scheme. |
