Summary:	Wireless data communications have become an essential part of everyday life thanks to the ubiquity of Wi-Fi and mobile networks. Security issues are an important limitation factor in the deployment of wireless services, and to mitigate the emergence of new security weaknesses it is advisable to implement application level security on top of the standard security provided by the underlying technology. In this contribution we present an example about how to implement this additional level of security based on the usage of the Spanish national ID card and an application suitable for Android devices.
