Summary: | 5G data rates are predicted to be three times higher than 4G data rates. With 5G, speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) are feasible. This paper proposes a downsized antenna for the 28 GHz frequency spectrum. The proposed antenna is constructed on a 1.6mm thick FR4 substrate. A 50-ohm microstrip line feeds the top radiator. The top patch is shortened to obtain the resonance frequency. A partial ground method is used to accomplish impedance matching. To improve radiation characteristics, the analysis is expanded to include Multi Input Multi Output(MIMO) MIMO for three different situations resulted MIMO-1,2 and 3. The antenna's compactness is indicated by its dimensions (8.1mm X 12.8mm X 1.6mm), and three alternative iterations are investigated. The HFSS tool is used to simulate the antenna. The performance of MIMO (in three circumstances) was compared. Between the elements of MIMO-3, an EBG structure is placed, which boosts the gain. With a measured bandwidth of 5.4 percent (27.01-28.53 GHz) and a 41.34dB reflection coefficient. The MIMO-3 components are isolated by more than 25 dB. The antenna's 4.2 dBi gain is quite impressive. Over the whole operating frequency range, the Envelope Correlation Coefficient (ECC) is close to 0.012, and the Diversity Gain (DG) is close to 10 dB. These results, which are in line with predictions, indicate that the antenna is well-suited for 5G use. |
