Description
Summary:Results of the Cytokinesis - Block Micronucleus (CBMN) assay performed on 132 blood samples, from medical personnel occupationally exposed to ionizing radiation are analyzed, according to profession, length and type of exposure - X (diagnostic radiology) and gamma/beta (nuclear medicine, brachytherapy). Variations of micronuclei frequency by age and gender categories and also in the group of gamma/beta exposed workers were observed, in accordance with results of the cited literature. For medical staff having the X-ray exposure, the (MN) frequency are within the values of the reference range of our calibration curve for radiation background - between 0 and 0.015 MN/1000 BN.
