Description
Summary:Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have gained significant importance in various fields, but their long-term sustainability is a challenge due to limited energy resources. One of the solutions to this issue can be energy-efficient cluster-based routing. This review explores various objectives and advantages of clustering which include load balancing, scalability, and robustness. It introduces a structured taxonomy categorizing routing protocols into hierarchical, fuzzy, and metaheuristic classifications. Hierarchical taxonomy emphasizes organizational structures, while fuzzy logic-based protocols use fuzzy reasoning for context-aware decisions in dynamic WSN environments. Metaheuristic-based protocols, inspired by nature-driven optimization techniques, optimize energy consumption and routing efficiency in WSNs. This research explores technical aspects, limitations, advantages, and potential future research directions in clustering-based routing protocols in WSNs.
