Description
Summary:The article is describing an issue of interaction between a person moving with the help of personal mobility devices (PMD) and other participants in the movement. Statistics of road accidents involving similar vehicles are also provided. Special attention is paid to the recognition of such vehicles with the example of an e-scooter by means of technical vision, which is a part of current driver assistance systems and highly automated vehicles. The results of a full-scale experiment on the recognition of a person moving on an electric e-scooter are presented. Several conflict scenarios involving personal mobility devices and a car are considered, occurring in urban traffic conditions, which can lead to an emergency situation of a collision between a car and a person on a PMD. The influence of a combination of failed infrastructure and PMD on the possibility of an emergency situation is also shown. The results of computer modeling of these scenarios are presented.
