Summary: | The paper presents a dual band monopole antenna with a defected ground plane for Wi-Fi and WLAN applications. The defect is introduced as a step in the ground plane. Initially, a single band monopole antenna is designed. This is antenna is modified with the step defect to provide dual band characteristics. The depth and width of the defect decides the second band of operation for a given monopole length. The optimized antenna in ANSYS HFSS is fabricated and tested and are in concurrence with each other. |
