Summary: | Power saving mode (PSM) is one of the hot topics in the research area of Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT). The existing researches on PSM are inclined to study the trend of power consumption with PSM duration by using semi-Markov model. In this paper, we present an analysis of Power Saving Mode (PSM), which is novel in three dimensions. First, we propose a Markov chain in NB-IoT instead of the semi-Markov ones. Secondly, our traffic model includes not only downlink traffic but also up-link traffic. Finally, we use genetic algorithm to obtain an optimal PSM duration. Numerical results show that the PSM duration calculation based on the optimal model can reduce power consumption effectively within an acceptable time delay. |
