Influence of normal stress on shear strength along 〈1 1 1〉{1 1 0} and 〈1 1 1〉{1 1 2} deformation paths in B2 NiTi alloy from first principles

Influence of the superimposed normal stress on the shear strength along the 〈1 1 1〉 direction in {1 1 0} and {1 1 2} shear planes is studied from first principles for B2 (austenite) structure of NiTi alloy. The applied normal stress was considered to be both tensile and compressive. Obtained results...

Description
Summary:Influence of the superimposed normal stress on the shear strength along the 〈1 1 1〉 direction in {1 1 0} and {1 1 2} shear planes is studied from first principles for B2 (austenite) structure of NiTi alloy. The applied normal stress was considered to be both tensile and compressive. Obtained results reveal that 〈1 1 1〉{1 1 0} slip system is more favorable for shear than 〈1 1 1〉{1 1 2} system and that maximal shear stress almost linearly increases with increasing superimposed compressive normal loading.
