Description
Summary:The use of the press as a source for the study of history poses serious problems such as it being incomplete and often subjective. However, it is an invaluable means to get access to the different currents of public opinion on certain historical processes at the moment they were evolving, especially when, as in the case in question, these currents of public opinion have real effects and are defined by specific social and economic interests. This paper attempts to analyze the view that Spanish newspapers offered their readers on the Mexican Revolution and its actors and, more specifically, on the relationship between Mexican revolutionaries and the Spanish colony, as that vision is a clear reflection of the evolution of diplomatic relations between the two countries from the era of Porfirio Díaz to the 1930s La utilización de la prensa periódica como fuente para el estudio de la historia plantea serios problemas desde el momento en que es incompleta y, con frecuencia, poco objetiva.
