Summary: | This work deals with the oxidation of formaldehyde using catalysts based on Ce, which are described in the
literature as active metals in the oxidation of refractory and more resistant compounds to be leached by the
dissolution of the active species. Two types of material preparation are presented, on the one hand, pure Ce or
Co oxides and on the other hand, mixed oxides of Ce-Co to different molar relationships are prepared,
presenting all catalysts for Ce (pure and mixed), the diffraction pattern corresponding to cerium oxide
(cerianite). The activity of these materials in the elimination of HCOOH, is studied in a conventional reactor type
"slurry" by reaction of catalytic wet oxidation (CWO). Both Ce's presence, and the major content of this one in
the catalyst, notably favors the removal of the pollutant.
