Description
Summary:The glandular odontogenic cyst is a rare developmental odontogenic cyst characterized by potential aggressiveness and high recurrence. Initially know as sialo-odontogenic cyst because it was believed that its etiology was possibly associated with salivary glands, the name glandular odontogenic cyst was later proposed, and the odontogenic origin was emphasized. We report a case of a glandular odontogenic cyst in a 22-year-old male patient, with several dental development pathologies. The lesion was located in the posterior region of the mandible associated with a nonvital tooth, simulating signs of a radicular cyst. The differential diagnosis of cystic jaw injuries can often be a difficult exercise due to the similarity of clinical and radiographic characteristics of lesions with distinct biological behavior.
