EPIDERMOID CYST IN LOWER THIRD OF THE FACE: CASE REPORT

The epidermoid cyst is an uncommon benign tumor that can develop in any region of the human body. About 7% of these cysts occur in the head and neck region. With an indolent nature that leads to constant delays in its presentation and diagnosis. We report the case of a 36-year-old male patient who sought the service for evaluation of face volume increase over 7-month evolution. Patient reports being a smoker and drinker. Extraoral examination shows a nodular lesion in the region of mandible, measuring 3.0 x 3.0 x 2.0 cm with extension to the mucous membrane, submucosal, steady consistency, movable, with clear boundaries, smooth surface, spherical format, and painless. Clinical hypotheses were of dermoid cyst; epidermoid and lipoma. Imaging tests showed a benign lesion that was well delimited, non-odontogenic, excisional biopsy was performed, and the histopathological examination confirmed the epidermoid cyst hypothesis.
