Summary:(BJOG. 2018;125:1304–1311)Magnesium sulfate is proven to prevent eclampsia in women with preeclampsia. Previous studies have not clearly established whether or not the use of magnesium sulfate in the postpartum period contributed to reducing postpartum eclampsia. This study investigated if patients who received a loading dose plus maintenance infusion for 8 or more hours before delivery required an additional maintenance infusion of magnesium sulfate for 24 hours postpartum.
