Summary: | A mucocele is a benign lesion of the minor salivary glands commonly found in children and young adults. A therapeutic alternative for this lesion in children is the use of liquid nitrogen refrigerant spray without the use of infiltrative anesthesia. We report the case of a 7-year-old white girl with physiologic heart murmur without symptoms, presenting a lesion that was nodular, sessile, rapidly progressive, and painless with normal surface on the lower lip. Case history along with intraoral examination of the lesion was crucial for the diagnosis of mucocele. The lesion was exposed directly to 3 consecutive cycles of freezing and thawing once a week for 10 seconds, being completely removed without scar formation. No recurrence was observed after 3 months of follow-up. |
