Description
Summary:Recent literature reporting the epidemiology, economics, and disease characteristics of sepsis aims to improve the understanding of the condition, costs of care, and disease characteristics. Sepsis is a frequently observed condition associated with death in 30% to 50% of affected patients, and costs associated with sepsis are expected to increase as evidenced by increased nationwide incidence. To make optimal patient care decisions, save lives, and manage resource demands, it is important for all clinicians involved in the care of these patients to understand the condition, its incidence, economics, and disease characteristics.
