| Abstract | Popular music creates cultural narrations about romantic love, it makes cultural narrations on being men and women visible, as well as it does with practices related to gender violence. This article analyzes the construction of romantic love, as well as ideals of couples in the lyrics of norteña music and banda sinaloense. We carried out a thematic content analysis on 29 romantic ballads. We presented results in the categories of the search of a partner; everyday life together; eroticism and the splitting of couples. We concluded that song lyrics spread myths and beliefs on romantic love. These meanings recreate roles and interactions established by gender mandates, and they crystallize conditions of violence and inequality between men and women.
La música popular construye narraciones culturales sobre el amor romántico, visibiliza significados del ser hombre y mujer, y de prácticas relacionadas con la violencia de género. En este artículo analizamos la construcción del amor romántico así como de los ideales de pareja en la lírica de la música norteña y banda sinaloense. Realizamos un análisis de contenido temático de 29 baladas románticas. Presentamos los resultados en las categorías de búsqueda de pareja, convivencia diaria, erotismo y separación de la pareja. Concluimos que en la lírica de las canciones se difunden mitos y creencias sobre el amor romántico. Estos significados recrean papeles e interacciones establecidos por los mandatos de género, y cristalizan condiciones de violencia y desigualdad entre hombres y mujeres. |
