This statement, misinterpreted by the press, seriously overstates the risks associated with the use of NSAIDs. Wolfe et al. extrapolated the estimated number of deaths associated with NSAIDs from death rates in the Arthritis, Rheumatism, and Aging Medical Information System (ARAMIS).
