Description
Summary:An erbium‐modified Mg17Al12 based coating was fabricated via hot‐pressing sintering method on as‐extruded AZ61 magnesium alloy. The results show that the coating is composed of Mg17Al12 matrix and Al3Er phase. The erbium addition made the hardness of the coating improved by 50 HV than single phase Mg17Al12. According to electrochemical results, the coating has lower corrosion current density and higher charge transfer resistance compared with Mg17Al12, which indicates the intermetallic coating exhibits good corrosion resistance.
