Summary:A 66-year-old male with chronic pericarditis accompanied by idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis was originally admitted for cardiac tamponade. A firm diagnosis was obtained only after the patient's sudden death when autopsy was performed. Chest X-rays showed cardiac enlargement and pleural effusion.
