Using the Griess colorimetric nitrite assay for measuring aliphatic β-nitroalcohols

► Nitroalcohols could be clinically important therapeutic tissue cross-linking agents. ► Nitroalcohols liberate nitrite during heating at alkaline pH. ► The Griess colorimetric nitrite assay can be used for quantitation of nitroalcohols.
