Description
Summary:Rey presents the examination of the item responses about marijuana use of adolescents ages 11 to 19 drawn from various settings, and finds little psychometric evidence to support that abuse and dependence are separate constructs; that is, abuse and dependence appear to be part of a continuum of harmful use. Studies show that abuse items can indicate severe substance problems just as dependence items can indicate mild ones. Hence, they are consistent with those of other studies in adolescents and adults and challenge the assumption in the current taxonomies that criterial for abuse and dependence define two different dimensions.
