Summary:	Case histories of women with an obstetrical history and a current ectopic pregnancy (EP) were studied. When causal factors for EP such as salpingitis or inadequate contraception were ruled out there was a higher incidence of spontaneous abortion, ectopic pregnancy, and early labor (P less than 0.01) compared to matched controls. When the results of the first pregnancy after EP were studied the incidence of spontaneous abortion and early labor was higher (P = 0.01) than in matched controls.
