Modification of coded parametrizations of surface resistances to gaseous dry deposition

Description
Summary:The parametrization scheme presented by Wesely (1989, Atmospheric Environment 23, 1293–1304) for surface resistance to gaseous dry deposition is examined. Some aspects of the scheme are clarified, errors are corrected and the corrected sample output is presented. In many cases, the new results are within about 10% of Wesely's original values for surface resistance. In other cases, they differ significantly, being as much as 23% lower or 50% higher than Wesely's values. These differences contribute to corresponding changes in deposition velocity that are as much as 30% higher or 33% lower, respectively, than those derived from Wesely's original computer code. Users of Wesely's parametrization scheme or his computer code are advised to check for possible incorrect results.
