Description
Summary:There is growing interest in developing membrane and fuel cell technologies for efficient fuel processing. In particular, various molecular sieving separation membranes have been investigated for fuel-related gas separations and for use in membrane reactors for production of syngas. In recent years, considerable efforts have been made to develop fuel cells to efficiently generate electricity from various fuel sources, including those produced from renewable energy sources. In this Virtual Special Issue, we have selected eight original research papers on this important topic, ranging from C02 resistant membranes for oxygen separation, anodes for intermediated temperature fuel cells, membrane reactors and co-electrolyses of water/C02 for syngas production, the effect of ammonia and tars in membranes for processing syngas, dual phase membranes and membranes for desulfurization for processing gasoline. We hope that this issue serves the purpose of promoting research into membranes and fuel cells from the fuel processing perspectives, and also as a trial for extending the scope of the journal to cover more research papers on advanced mate technology.
