Adsorption Morphologies of Polyethylene Glycol and Cationic Surfactants in HCl-containing H2SO4 Aqueous Solutions

We characterized the adsorption morphologies of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and cationic surfactants on gold in H2SO4 aqueous solutions in the presence and absence of Cl− ions. The addition of Cl− ions resulted in the formation of globular aggregates on a smooth adsorption film for PEG, whereas in the...

Description
Summary:We characterized the adsorption morphologies of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and cationic surfactants on gold in H2SO4 aqueous solutions in the presence and absence of Cl− ions. The addition of Cl− ions resulted in the formation of globular aggregates on a smooth adsorption film for PEG, whereas in the formation of wormlike adsorption aggregates for hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide.
