Summary:Women with severe liver disease often have amenorrhea that resolves as liver disease abates. We describe three patients with mild to moderate chronic liver disease and amenorrhea. In each case amenorrhea resolved when spironolactone therapy was discontinued. We suggest that spironolactone, an androgen inhibitor, may also cause reversible amenorrhea.
