Summary:A study of the effect of the combined action of mechanical and electrical force fields in biaxially stretched slabs has been carried out. Samples of VHB 4910, a dielectric elastomer whose stress-strain behaviour can be fitted well to an Ogden constitutive equation, have been chosen. The analysis show that bifurcation appearance crucially depends on both the configuration of the system sample-electrodes and the parameters of the empirical model.
