First synthesis of 3,3-difluoroserine and cysteine derivatives via Mg(0)-promoted selective CF bond cleavage of trifluoromethylimines

3,3-Difluoroserine and cysteine derivatives were synthesized via Mg(0)-promoted defluorination of trifluoromethylimines as a key step, followed by addition of alcohols and sulfenyl chloride, respectively.
