Description
Summary:A facile and rapid microwave-assisted combustion method was applied to synthesize the nanocrystalline NiFe 2 O 4 and CoFe 2 O 4 powders. The results suggested that application of microwave heating to synthesize the homogeneous porous NiFe 2 O 4 and CoFe 2 O 4 powders was achieved in a few minutes. The structure and morphology of the as-prepared nanocrystalline powders of NiFe 2 O 4 and CoFe 2 O 4 were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and tunneling electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD spectra confirmed the formation of spinel structure with a crystallite size of 30.03 nm for NiFe 2 O 4 and 36.7 nm for CoFe 2 O 4 nanopowders, and TEM results indicated spherical shape of the products. Magnetic measurements revealed that at room temperature while NiFe 2 O 4 is superparamagnetic, CoFe 2 O 4 shows ferromagnetic behavior.
