Experimental Substantiation of the Use of HIFU Technology in the Treatment of the Lower Limb Varicose Disease

Summary: | We present here an experimental study demonstrating the action of noninvasive high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) on vein walls in the treatment of varicose disease. The main mechanisms of action of HIFU include thermal and mechanical effects. Actions on veins were studied using a series of acute and chronic experiments, which demonstrated the parameters at which vein obliteration was obtained without damage to adjacent structures. |
