Description
Summary:The purpose of this paper is to develop the equations for determining stress-concentration factors for use in the analysis of loaded holes in mechanically fastened composites. A compact analytical solution of stresses around a pin–loaded hole in orthotropic plates is obtained by using the complex stress functions. The advantage of this solution is that the stress distribution around the hole can be easily computed for different orthotropic or isotropic materials with known elastic constants. The results of the equations for different hole sizes and material properties obtained in this paper are in accordance with the results available in the literature and it is shown that for comparable accuracy, the solution presented here minimizes the computational effort.
