An efficient eco-friendly method, with less hazardous chemicals, developed for the deformylation and followed by halogenation of 3-formylchromones by applying easily available Oxone as oxidising agent and NaX as a halogenating source. Many of 3- halochromone derivatives (20 compounds) were obtained with good yields, applicable in halogenations at different levels micro to macro levels. |
