Summary:Seebeck coefficient, S, electrical conductivity, σ, and thermal conductivity, κ, of AlPdRe icosahedral alloys are investigated. As concentration of transition metal (either Pd or Re) is increased, S increases. The strong composition dependences of S and σ relate to the spikiness in electronic density of states at Fermi energy, and to the variation in bonding nature between Al and TM. The thermoelectric figure of merit also reveals strong composition dependence and thus gives a possibility of good thermoelectric performance. Effect of Ru addition for the thermoelectric property is also presented.
