Experiments have been carried out to investigate the effect of holding at 300, 400, and 500 C on the mechanical properties and chemical and phase composition of annealed and cold-worked two-phase (alpha+beta) titanium alloys VT6-ch, VT-1, VT16, and VT30. It is shown that the thermal stability of the alloys studied increases in the sequence VT30, VT16, VT3-1, and VT6-ch; prior cold working leads to a decrease in the thermal stability of the alloys. The low thermal stability of VT30 and VT16 alloys is due to processes developing in the beta phase during prolonged isothermal heating, such as alpha-phase precipitation and transformations in the beta phase regions. In the case of VT3-1, a loss of stability occurs due to the precipitation of intermetallic particles.
