Description
Summary:The kinetics of tetrahydrofuran oxidation initiated by 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile was studied in a temperature range of 303–323 K. The rate of reaction was monitored by oxygen absorption. It was found that the rate of oxidation of tetrahydrofuran was a linear function of its concentration, and it was proportional to the square root of the initiator concentration. The oxidizability parameter of tetrahydrofuran and the initiation rate constant of tetrahydrofuran oxidation by 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile were found: log ( k 2 (2 k 6 ) –0.5 ) = 4.3–44.1/θ [L 0.5 mol –0.5 s –0.5 ] and log  k i = 13.9−120.4/θ [s –1 ], where θ = 2.303 × 10 –3 RT J/mol. The rate constant ( k 7 ) of reaction of the tetrahydrofuran peroxyl radical with α-tocopherol at a temperature of 303 K was (4.0 ± 1.1) × 10 5 L mol –1 s –1 .
