Interaction between an Oxidized Fraction of Polyvinyl Alcohol and Uracil Derivatives in Aqueous Solutions

UV spectroscopy is used to study the complexation of an oxidized fraction of polyvinyl alcohol and uracil derivatives (6-methyluracil, 5-bromo-6-methyluracil, 5-hydroxy-6-methyluracil, 5-nitro-6-methyluracil, 5-fluorouracil, 5-chlorouracil, and 6-aminouracil) in dilute aqueous solutions. The composi...

Description
Summary:UV spectroscopy is used to study the complexation of an oxidized fraction of polyvinyl alcohol and uracil derivatives (6-methyluracil, 5-bromo-6-methyluracil, 5-hydroxy-6-methyluracil, 5-nitro-6-methyluracil, 5-fluorouracil, 5-chlorouracil, and 6-aminouracil) in dilute aqueous solutions. The composition of the resulting complex compounds is established and their stability is determined. The temperature dependence of the constants of stability was studied in the range of 291–316 K, and the thermodynamic parameters of complex formation are determined. Results indicate a single mechanism of interaction between the oxidized fraction of polyvinyl alcohol and a number of uracil derivatives.
